Great question Mark. Having read through all the posts on this subject, I would lean toward more dobs in the 8"-10" range, a few simple 80mm refractors and a couple of binoculars. For myself, this is the type of set up that is the perfect combo.
 
No one has mentioned eyepieces yet however. Perhaps the basics - 10mm, 25mm and a 2x barlow - again, simple but wide ranging.
 
If the SJAA is considering how many of which telescope, I would break it down as follows:
 
Dobs - 9
80mm Refractors - 4
10x50 Binos - 2
