There was a great picture showing the landing zone (which they hit I
think) that was 15 mile by 70 miles long and was south of the Pole as
they termed equivalent to being within our arctic circle so ice would be
not too deep down. They wanted to be south of the pole so they can dig
down and sample as they go with the probe's shovel and soil diagnostic gear.

They were only worried about perhaps hitting a reasonable sized rocky
area and I think that had a 1% probability but they decided beforehand
that it was not worth the risk of a late correctional burt (last night)
to avoid such a small risk so that is the only thing that may be non
optimal. don't know how they did there. Gotta watch the recording or
check web.
