Spaketh the Bard of Salinas:

I have sat in the dark on Fremont Peak with Mr. Dillon in
conditions where our scopes did not come out of the car. We dined, we
chatted, we even went over to the observatory and pointed the 30"
directly at the moon, so obscured it was by clouds. I dare say, even
if the peaks and hilltops are shrouded in water vapor and soot, one
may be sitting in the gloom, sipping lemonade with the likes of Jamie
Dillon, and be satisfied with the nature of all things.
Sunny up here, windy, and the Berkeley hills are just a shade of blue
grey slightly darker than the warm grey curtain of sky. Definitely a
double whammy of smoke, wind, and impending doom weather forecasts. I
don't think I'll be headed out, but my 10" will be at the ready for a
break in the skies over the next few nights from the back deck.
Maybe I'll see something.... maybe I won't.
Have a good weekend folks.
