Greg, that was a great OR! I just love reading the ORs that you and Mark
have been posting lately, you guys are really into it. I love how the
enthusiasm comes through. Your property in AZ sounds really neat, a great
observing site. Having a 'home' observing site like that sounds like a
really neat thing.

(Now all you need is a dome at your property, containing a Paramount, a
high-tech Ritchey-Chretien scope, a filter wheel loaded up with exotic
narrowband filters for imaging during full Moon, a nutty CCD camera, and a
high-speed Internet connection to your home in the Bay Area, so that you can
work on some kick-butt imaging when you're not doing visual observing...
hmm, can you tell what aspect of the hobby I've been fantasizing about
lately?)

You've got me inspired to get out to some seriously dark skies with the 18"
and bag some deep stuff, as well as enjoying jaw-dropping views of the
Messiers. You're right about M101 being an observing session unto itself, I
did some of that at Bumpass last August. It's amazing!

BTW, if anyone's looking for inspiration, I would call attention to the fact
that the roads are now open to both the Devastated Area AND the Bumpass
lot... although the chunk of road between those two points is still closed.
I was at the Devastated Area last weekend for a daytime visit with my
girlfriend. Still a coupla feet of snow on the ground, although the road and
the lot were dry. Great opportunity to observe sans mosquitoes!

Keep up the good work, Greg,

Marek
