As noted in a number of observing over the past week, the sky has shown a distinct haziness. Last
weekend at Coe it really cut down on transparency. I think that was the case everywhere (other
than Fremont Peak?)... and the situation continues still. I passed on Houge Park last night as
the sky again looked very milky to me in the late afternoon.
I have seen talk of this on the TV news, usually the meteorologists, saying there it may be
attributable to dust storms in China. I would think it is the Gobi. Anyone else hearing about
this?
How many of you remember the dust extinction caused by the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the early
90's?
