The wind. Dino is good in the fall and winter, when that onshore wind
isn't tearing thru Pacheco Pass. After mid-March it'll throw your
stuff in the lake. Been there.
The Peak and Dino can run about equal in terms of darkness. When the
marine layer is in over the coastal cities, the Peak is hard to beat,
and the seeing there is often excellent. Dino has a great southern
sky and can get seriously dark. Seeing at Dino is seldom first rate;
there's usually a breeze overhead.
Don't leave Coe out, can also get big kid dark when there are low
clouds. Coyote Lake is nice, and easy to get to, but not in the same
ballpark at these other 3 for darkness.
Come fall, you'll see folks clustering back toward Dino.
