The East Palo Alto Charter School (K-8) is having a family science
night on April 24, 2008, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This event is
being hosted by two local sections of the American Chemical Society.
The whole school will be there, with lots of parent involvement.
These are highly motivated kids, who are attending a school that sets
high standards. Various science demonstrations and experiments will
be set up in many classrooms, and the kids will be going from one to
the other throughout the night. We want to also have a set of
Telescopes outside, where we can show the kids Mars and Saturn at
first, and some deep space objects as the night gets darker.
I need four or five scopes total, at least. I have one so we'll need
three or four more. We are expecting a crowd of about 400 people
based on previous years experience. Starting time would be 7:00 PM
for setup so that you can get your car into the back lot before the
kids are in the way and/or we get too much traffic. Sunset is 7:53
PM that night, with civil twilight ending at 8:20PM.
