Rich, (Think you may know this but to repeat info on Bonny Doon Airport Observing)

Bonny Doon airport is way up on the mountains above Felton and I doubt salt mist is present to any great extent.

Yes there are no bathroom facilities but it was explained to me that liquid waste was ok as long as you are well away from the scopes.

The site is a great site for south-west and south. I hear that when the low clouds cover santa cruz and san jose it is great and I look forward to those visits.

The site is the prime site of the Santa Cruz Astronomy Club and they have graciously extended invites online here from time to time (which includes this comming Saturday night). It is a locked site that the airstrip owner has extended keys to the Santa Cruz club 'and invited guests' for prime new moon nights.

I think I got most of the above fairly close to correct ...

Clear Skies,

Mark

Aren't there some other beaches, with a potty, that would be ok for observing but are a good way back from the surf? A few miles from the surf? I find observing close to the surf best if done naked eye or with binoculars. I don't like getting my fine optics too close to all that salt air.
