Hi guys,

I'm back in Fremont for a few days. As you may remember, I have been
working for the Gemini Observatory in Chile and was supposed to relocate to
HI and continue working for them on Mauna Kea. It was a great experience
and I was working on some aspects of their Multi-conjugate Adaptive Optics
projects, particularly with the 50W artificial guide star laser launch
optics (no measly 5mW laser pointers here!). Everything was going great but
a few weeks ago a former colleague made me a job offer I couldn't rationally
refuse. This means instead of going to HI I'm moving to the Boston area,
which from the astro perspective really sucks. There is now an open position
for a sr. optical engineer at Gemini North, so if you're qualified and
interested, check out their website and submit a resume.

In other news, I'm about to receive my long awaited 17.5" Discovery Dob, so
I want to downsize my CG-11 SCT setup to a 6-7" MCT on a smaller GEM (CG5
maybe). The C-11 OTA and G11 mount are like new, virtually no scratches or
blemishes. I've made custom soft cases for the tripod legs, pier, and
counterweight. I flocked the OTA and installed a fan in the rear cell (the
fan is essential IMO). It has an upgraded dovetail finder mount. I will
also include a William Optics dual speed crayford focuser that I've modified
to screw directly to the large 3.3" SCT threads eliminating the standard SCT
thread vignetting and shorting the assembly by about 0.6". The crayford
mods are completely reversible and the parts are included. Let me know if
you're interested. $2500 takes it all, or make me an offer. Since I'm in
transit I'd like to move fast on this.

Lou
