Have been through Vasco road many times returning from a drummer friend's jams and often around 12-1am. I always stop off of that road and look with binoculars because it is fairly dark. It does get at least 'coe dark' there but I have never had my meter or done a star count. Had my 8" newt with me once but would not dare setup along side Vasco for assorted reasons of light, wind, and safety.
I should note that my observations were not off at the reservoir which may be more shielded from the wind but only to the side of Vasco road, the new, fast part. I even had a police car stop and ask me what I was doing ... but alas, I digress ...
It has always been very windy, why do they build windmills there anyway? So seeing may be an issue.
Still it may be worth checking out since they have been kind enough to extend the invite.
