Here is an interesting request that came in to the webmaster e-mail address this morning. If
there is some interest in this, you may want to discuss it on-list. I have suggested Gina watch
our list for replies. This may be an opportunity to develop a new observing site, but at minimum
provide some outreach to introduce more people to observing.

I am a Public Information Officer with the Contra Costa Water District,
and one of my on-going assignments is to organize events at the Los
Vaqueros reservoir, which is located halfway between Brentwood and
Livermore.

We have had one "astronomy night" for the public at the reservoir. It
attracted about 50 people, mainly inexperienced and curious Brentwood
residents. The program was conducted by an organization called Mt.
Diablo Astronomical Society, which is a great group. The members really
liked the location because it is secluded and we can turn off all of the
lights. They brought about 10 telescopes of different sorts and like
people look through them, then explained what they were seeing.

We would like to have more events this summer, and we do have one
scheduled for August 9, but MDAS is a very busy organization and can't
be available to us as frequently as we'd like. We would like to have 1
or 2 more Astronomy Nights this summer.

Would your group be interested in conducting a couple of nighttime
programs out there? We can pay a fee to the organization, maybe $150 or
something like that. We would not be able to be out there all night,
but I could get permission to have people out there late.

Please let me know what you think?
