over about five or so hills away I was at the ranch in the early evening
working the Orion widefield image
I did some binoc observing enjoying the dry air, calm wind and comfortable
temperatures.
to the naked eye the skies were steady and dark: inky black in fact. I don't
see that at home. The brightest stars showed some scintillation but little
compared to what I typically see in my backyard
I cut the night short due to Orion setting and drove back to Castro valley.
But it was a pleasant evening out looking ink-black skies.
The binoc view of the M42 area was stunning and M45 looked like a jewel box
Christel enjoyed the very new moon as it was setting: peering along the
terminator with the binocs
