right angle vs straight through kind of depends on the scope and where
it will be mounted, whatever is more convenient for the viewer. I
prefer a right angle on a dobson, I mount it right on middle of the back
so the eyepiece is pointing 'up'


I've been fairly happy with the inexpensive 9x50 Orion I've been using.
its got its flaws, but for the price is hard to beat.
