Hi, my name is Chris and I am a gas-o-holic!

I image, I need power and I want comfort so I drive an RV that gets 11MPG on a 35 gallon tank! That said I view the gas situation a bit differently. For me its always a trade off, if I want something, I will sacrifice something.

Last year say gas averaged about $3.00 per gallon, this summer, it will be $4.00 which is $1.00 more than last year so it will cost incrementally $35.00 more per trip. Yes, I have changed my habits, I tend to go for at least three nights if possible, used to be two nights, and I usually do not use more than 3/4s of a tank for those trips. Like others, longer trips are better but if I had to give up a dinner out a month to make up the $35.00 extra, I would. What I get from the hobby currently outweighs the pain at the pump, who knows what the future brings though!

Sum it up -
Value of Astronomy equipment not including RV - ~$15K
Tank of gas for the RV - $140 (projected summer 2008)
Attending star parties, imaging and socializing - Priceless!
