Sean,

Do yourself a big favor and get some cheesecloth.

1. Apply a coat of collodian on the mirror, and while it's still wet,
place the cheesecloth on top.
2. Paint more collodian on top of the cheesecloth with a disposable
brush. The idea is to embed the cheesecloth into the collodian.
3. Let it dry.

When it's completely dry the collodian will shrink, lifting the
cheesecloth and collodian from the surface of the mirror. All the
collodian should stick to the cheesecloth and not the mirror, so
there's no messing with tweezers.

This is the way I always clean my mirrors, and I've never had a problem.
