This is my photo of the California Nebula taken at Barcroft in September. It is a stack of three 2 hour long exposures with the FSQ and 35mm film.
I've processed it two ways...one a bit brighter than the other. The brighter of the two shows the edges of teh outer nebulosity much better--you can see how quickly it drops off. My goal was to draw out the fainter outer halo while emphasizing the inner structure that gives it its Califonia shape:
