Honestly you guys, how about watching your subject lines. You're
writing about one park under the subject line of another.
Big Sur Pfeiffer is a whole lot bigger that Julia Pfeiffer, and on
the upstream eastern end of the park horizons do open up a lot. Skies
can get inky dark there on winter nights. Most of the year that
campground tends to be full, so you get plenty of those lovely
propane lanterns with the mantles that glow like Vega close up. I so
hate those things.
Been working for years on inculcating the idea in our Scouts that you
can see in the dark. We've had people in the troop use our long spars
and lashing ropes to make fancy structures for the purpose of hanging
the frackin propane lights 6 feet up. The memory is still green.
