Hello TACers,

We could still use a few more volunteers for this Friday's star party
and I'd still like to find someone with a large refractor for Mars.

I have a 4" televue genesis sdf refractor that we could use if someone
could lend me a mount. I have losmande dovetail plate on it for mounting.

Please let me know if you can help out.

Thanks.

Hello,

The Saratoga Oak Street Elementary School 3rd graders are having a star
party
as part of their study of Astronomy on Friday, November 4th.

The kids have already attended a portable planetarium at the school and been
introduced to Mars (and other planets), Nebulas, Globular Clusters, and
Galaxies.

The party will be held behind the school in the large play ground area
with the
normal lighting to be extinguished for this event at:

14592 Oak Street
Saratoga, CA 95070

The third graders should arrive around 6:00pm (civil twilight ends at
5:34pm with
the moon at 9% and setting at 6:54pm. The school offers pretty dark
skies in the south
direction towards the Santa Cruz mountains. Planets that would be
visible during the
party are: Mars, Venus (sets 7:40), Uranus, and Neptune.

Please let me know offlist if you can volunteer and what kind of scope you
would be bringing. If anyone feels ambitious, there is an auditorium, where
one could make a presentation appropriate for third graders. I'm hoping to
have one large refractor for Mars if someone can bring one.

Thanks.

-William
