Seeing was variable, it seemed; It wasn't awful. The temps were cool, but
it seemed to get drier as the night wore on; the dew wasn't that bad.
Despite all that, Mars was looking nice (once I recollimated my SCT a
little). Once it got out of the muck and light dome of Palo Alto/Los
Altos, it provided more detail.
The real highlight of the night were the impressive meteors. I counted
about eight, and five of those were stunners. We had several with smoke
trails; one completely shattered and flamed out at the end. Some were so
bright they seemed like a camera flash and lit up the site. I was talking
to Marek by my scope when a flash went off and we both were a bit
startled.
I left about midnight due to cold and hunger. :)
