Well, I'm going to give it a shot. MB is nice and close to home, so I don't
lose too much by heading up there and seeing how it goes.
Rangers have been called. ETA 16:15.
Rich may have a point about the seeing. Oh well, there's always some
low-power eye candy to look at. Hopefully Mars will look good later tonight
as it gets closer to culmination.
It occurs to me that tonight is Mars' closest approach (I think). I've seen
a few items on the news about it, so let's hope that this doesn't turn out
to be too much of a repeat of the 2003 Mars Madess. Yikes... this could get
grim...
With apologies to Jeff Wayne and Richard Burton...
"When the smoke cleared, the little [observer's car] had reached the misty
horizon, and Carrie was safe. But the Thunder [Jeep] had vanished forever,
taking with her man's last hope of victory. The leaden sky was lit with
[white] flashes, [car] following [car], and no one and nothing was left now
to fight them. The [MB lot] belonged to the [great unwashed]."
Or maybe we could have a whole alternate series of chapter titles...
