I'm amazed at some of the foolishness. The Pretoria 26mm ocular was
described in Telescope-Making magazine, and considerable mention was
made of the long eye relief. Then some cell designer at (or for)
University Optics put an eye cup that took away about 2/3 of the eye
relief! Didn't he read the article??
I see this constantly. GRRRRRRRRRR!
The finder on my scope came with an impossible eyepiece. Fortunately
it was a separate 0.925 that could simply be pulled out. I disassembled
the optics from it, and had a machinist friend cut off the eye cup. End
of problem. I ought to do that with the Pretoria. But it's a lot
easier to tear into a cheap one.
