Interesting point Jim. I have a 26mm Meade 4000 and the lens is about 1"
deep into the eyepiece. The eyerelief is about 0 so I have to take my
glasses off. If it was shorter on the top I wouldn't have to.

DEAD: any eyepiece that has the eye lens recessed so that I can't
      get close enough to see the full field. That include most
      of them. See old Meade "Research-Grade" Orthoscopics for
      ideal design.
