Well I never talked to the Rigel guys but what I meant was that several
vendors in the US and elsewhere could sell the same flashlight manufactured
by the same Chinese shop. Now if Rigel or someone else did the original
design and someone copied it that would be a problem, of course.

I somehow don't think Rigel OEM'ed it out to Orion. When I saw the owner of
Rigel (originator of that flashlight design) at RTMC a few years ago, he
didn't seem all to happy about it.
I've often wondered what the draw is, really, to the square body design on
that flashlight? Does it make it easier to hold in your mouth? If that
were the case, then yes, a sealed unit would be a better idea. Maybe its so
it doesn't roll of an observing table in the dark...
