Thanks Ron and Richard for the much-appreciated comments.

Ron -- make sure you've got the diopter-adjustment thingy on the
viewfinder adjusted as accurately as possible to your uncorrected
vision. That might help you get focus on bright objects like the moon
without DSLRfocus, though I do highly recommend eventually picking up
the latter.

Richard -- are you going to be covering you flat-field technique
tomorrow at SFAA? If not, would you mind giving an overview of how
you collect your Flats? My technique (sky at dusk) isn't working
as well as I'd like with the Rebel. (Feel free to contact me
off-list if this is considered OT.)
