You might be thinking of NGC 6946 and NGC 6939 in nearby Cepheus. See

A classic near-far pair, if you can get enough FOV. Beautiful.

Hey, what's that open in Camelopardalis that also includes a galaxy in a wide
field view? We were looking at that one at Calstar a few years back.
