Nope - actually, there was an Eagle Computer - the first of the PC clones that had a bottom-up legit BIOS (not an IBM BIOS). Big IPO pending, big success. Then the CEO decided to buy a sports car to celebrate and ran off the road right next to the Vasona Dam, shot off about 60 feet and died.
The company that most benefited from Eagle was Microsoft, because Eagle inspired the clone PC manufacturers and proved their viability. Compaq, Dell, all those guys owe their existence to the "Eagle".
Apple's "heart" did not start with Altair. Read about the HomeBrew Computer Club (or Watch "Triumph of the Nerds" from PBS). If you want to see one of the "cherry wood" box computers (the Apple 1 proto), try the Computer History Museum - it's in the display room as you walk in the door.
Eagle is far more mythic - and worthy - of a Constellation - an original vision, a rapid rise and a tragic fall.
