By the way, I brought my scope with me again this trip. It was clear and my hopes were high. In order to travel more lightly, I planned to use the 8 c-batteries in my LX200GPS's fork arms as a power source. Something went wong and the scope would not power up. Unfortunately I didn't bring an alternate power source...bummer. Ended up observing with no power. It worked ok, but all the Light Pollution in the Orange County area made it hard to find things. Even M51 was invisible with the 8" scope. Oh well, it felt good to be out there at least trying to observe.
