I suppose. One way to make this box is to have part of it double as the rocker box as I did:

The lid of this box remains useful when observing, too: I usually put the rocker box/ground board on top, thereby elevating the entire scope, which my back finds more tolerable.

So I guess the answer to my question is that one needs a custom built wooden box to check the scope in? It would be nice if Pelican or Doskocil or someone made a standard case that was 20x20x20 or so on the exterior.
