Hi Dave,

Nope. All PSTs have "tunable" etalons. I think there are five, maybe six demo units that we should have smelted down but anything you'd be able to purchase has this capability built in.

It's worth noting that the function of this adjustment is not the same as that of the T-max on the SolarMax series. The PST tunability is a concession towards interest in double-stacked or dual cavity setups as it allows the customer to match a SolarMax 40 etalon to the PST easily rather than having to ship the PST to us and have us build up an etalon to order. So it's more a function of cost and numbers than it is a feature to allow the observation of Doppler-shifted events as is the case with the T-max.

Feel free to contact me off list or call the office if you have any further questions. I don't really want to this thread to bog down too much. Or let's just do it at CalStar!

Clear skies,
Bill

I thought the PST was fixed as standard with the option to make it
tunable...is that not so? If it was an option how much did it add to the
cost?

Hi Rashad,
Is that the regular PST or did you order a more "advanced" model?

Thanks Marek,

My PST is tunable. I can also double stack the 40mm filters.

Sorry I didn't get out to join you in Palo Alto today, Michael. Been
puttering around all day, and didn't catch your post until fairly late.
Have more puttering and errands to do today, as well.

Congrats on the PST, Rashad! I've heard good things about those scopes.
Bummer about the marine layer, though. BTW, is your PST tunable? I'm not
clear on whether those scopes have the 'tuning' function.

When the moon starts to wane more, and I start going to places like MB,
I'll try to bring the ED80/MS40 combo on a fairly regular basis, assuming I
can get to the observing site(s) before sundown.
