I also like filtered moon. My scope is 8" and at low- and average
magnification I find it more convenient to use filter.
Another unexpected thing for me was that my wife liked the view of
Mars (I think; or it was Jupiter - not sure, it was some time ago)
with the moon filter better. She claimed to see better with it,
because the glare was diminished.
