Michael,

I agree with Mark. I think that both OIs and ORs about solar observing
are welcome on TAC. They are about visual observing and about
astronomical objects, so it seems to me that they fit in with TAC's
charter. There's plenty of clutter on TAC occasionally, but this isn't
it.

Your new group could still serve several purposes while keeping some of
the traffic on TAC. People could post longer ORs on the subgroup and
summary or abstract ORs on TAC. Or they could defer the really deep
equipment discussions (sorry, Bill) to the subgroup, etc.

But I think it is really nice to see some solar ORs occasionally. And
really important for us occasional solar observers are posts like "hey,
the sun is really active today -- you oughtta get out there and take a
look".

Just my 2 cents.
