You're right, Stacy -- overnight flights are great. Having made 10 trips to London in the past 14 months, I booked window seats on the North side of the plane on all of them, and had great views of the aurora on about 75% of them. Several crew members and a few passengers wondered what the heck that guy was doing with a blanket over his head staring out the window for hours, but once I showed them what was out there they enjoyed it, too. The London route goes *way* north on its great circle, and I've had some tremendous auroral nights! I've never seen it from the ground, either...
