There's a possibility of seeing the aurora from the bay area
for the first time sing a long time.
In my years of scouting the Bay area at various locations I
have not yet been able to find a good aurora viewing spot
within an hour drive from the Penionsula. Requirements are a
VERY dark NNE horizon, with less than 10 deg. obstruction and
no light domes to the NNE. From the site descriptions on the
TAC homepage it looks like Lake Sonoma might be good, but it
is rather a long drive for a week day.
Is there a potential site closer than LS? Else, does LS offer
a good clean N horizon?
