For those of you who have been on TAC for less than a month and
therefore are not aware that we have an archive service, you'll find
plenty of great list discussion on this subject in past months and
years. Just like for green lasers and batteries and other topics that
get repeated over and over again and over and over again and over and
over again. Lots of great minds used their fingers and typed lots of
words on this topic in the past.

Maybe the new people don't know about the wonderful TAC archive feature.
All of us who have been on TAC for over a month now know how to use the
archive to see prior threads on these subjects. Just go to the front
page of the TAC website http://www.observers.org/. You can't miss the
box that says "Search" -- the white box where you enter your search
topic - such "Astronomy software" or "Astronomy Databases" is quite bright.

I just did a search, and lo and behold, every February this topic comes
up. It must be the weather. It is a rainy season topic, I'll guess.
Not to suggest that new information and new thoughts are not useful.
Maybe all the astronomy sofware and databases discussed in the past
emails on this subject are obsolete. Now I have to get back to
Valentines day activities, glad it's cloudy. :-)
