That jolly old elf delivered a spanky new ST80 30mm wide field eyepiece and the requisite 2" UHTC diagonal to go with it, but perhaps most outstanding was the unexpected arrival of one of the ultimate accoutrements of the true astro-geek: an elastic-banded, red LED equipped, head-mounted light, guaranteed to identify the wearer as one so absorbed in the study of star charts and faint fuzzies as to be completely oblivious to the peals of laughter from anyone within 50 meters. A fashion accessory assured of being entered on one's permanent record.

The very best gift of all, though, was the wonderful surprise of clear, steady skies this Boxin Day Eve. Thanks, Santa!

    Clear skies, at last!!
