Gavin,
Skip the Galileo. Go to Orion Telescopes and pick something up that is
better than the HSN crap they are selling.
Better yet, if you can't afford the telescope, a nice decent pair of
binoculars (10x50) are also a really good start as well. You can in the
mean time start saving up for a nice decent telescope.
