I left the TAC archives alone yesterday. Saturday night before we
went out to dinner I logged on to crab about the weather, just so no
one would feel left out under the clouds. Then here I find Crisp
still floundering in a semantic haze, asking yesterday evening:
>Did anyone go to Fremont Peak on Sat night?
>So Jamie, was it good or did you take Felix out with Annie Jump?
>Best wishes
>Richard
Now what I had written was:
>>We were just looking at Fremont Peak, in case you were wondering
>>about conditions here close to New Moon. Of course, there was
>>plenty of rain there yesterday, so it's likely nice and wet
>>underfoot. But in any case there are layers of cloud and overcast
>>over the whole area, and the density of the clouds is centered
>>along the length of the whole Gabilan range.
Even on careful re-reading that sure is unambiguous. Whichever
meaning of gnarly you prefer, the negative one takes the prize here.
In the evening from the north of town we could see the bottom of the
Peak, with the top shrouded in rainclouds.
This next weekend is a big Scout camporee right in Toro Park, just
outside of Salinas, a lovely little valley under Mt Toro (which is
higher than the Peak but with no roads). So if there's any kind of
decent weather, we'll take the scopes along to show off some of the
sights.
Good week, y'all! Watch your p's and q's.
