No, that's not the only way.
I don't want anyone to think I'm suggesting people NOT support this
event. I have already said it is a good thing.
I did ask about the new homes, and lights. I asked that so those who's
intent is to do a public star party and then stay for private deep sky
observing from what they may think is a dark (no lights) site be accurately
informed by those who have been there before.
Since there was an identical event a month ago, one need not make a trip
there to learn whether there are any obtrusive lights. If you've been
there, or Albert, or others, as recently as a month ago, you can provide
the answer.
I still stick by my remark... I don't know if I'd go for personal observing
if I had someone's porch lights in my eyes. OTOH... maybe I would. It is
always fun to get out with my friends... if I have any left. :-)
