I'd concur.
Further, about 30 years ago when I was moonlighting as a computer operator
in the dark ages of mag tape and punch cards, my boss did a series of tests
of commonly used cleaning solvents for mag tape drive head cleaning... He
found that standard 70% isopropanol left LESS residue on a piece of glass
than 90% medical grade isopropanol. We hypothesised that the residue from
the 90% stuff was residual dessicant used to remove the water.
So we always used 70% "Rubbing" alcohol on our 9-track tape drives... you
do have to make sure you get the kind with no skin softeners or oils or
whatever...
I still like Kodak brand lens cleaner for optics... use it with kodak brand
lens tissue. every other brand I've ever tried has left more crud behind.
Obviously, this isn't suitable for mirrors or other large optics, but its
great on eyepieces and such.
