Does anybody use a usb filter wheel that works with Acom well? Getting tired trying to get my Orion filter wheel to work reliably.

Just purchased this mount. Very well built and solid. Definitely good bang for the buck.

I agree with RBA. Since merging participation has dropped off a cliff. I have even been side lined as well.

Subject: YOU'RE INVITED! - Astronomy Technology Showcase Open House

Dear friend in Astronomy,
On behalf of the Advanced Imaging Conference (AIC) of San Jose, I'd like to invite you and your members to join us on Saturday October 17, 2015 for our Astronomy Technology Showcase Open House, at the San Jose Convention Center between the hours of 10 AM and 5 PM.

The Advanced Imaging Conference has been the premier event for astrophotographers for over a decade. Until this year, the meeting has been limited to paid attendees only. However, on Saturday, October 17 we're inviting the public to join us at our incredible Astronomy Technology Showcase.  This exhibition has always been a big draw for the conference but now we want to make it available to everyone.
For a nominal fee of only $10 per person ($5 if you mention your club), your members will gain admittance to the west coast's largest astronomical exhibition.

It features many of the world’s leading manufacturers, retailers and software producers displaying products for both visual and photographic observations. The manufacturers include PlaneWave Instruments, SBIG, Celestron, and Software Bisque. Oceanside Photo and Telescope, and Woodland Hills Camera and Telescope will also be there, with over 35 exhibitors in total. In addition to retailer, hardware and software exhibitors, we'll have some fun and affordable stuff available for the whole family. Mention your club's name and receive $5 off of admission!

The Advanced Imaging Conference, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c) organization managed by a group of non-compensated, all-volunteer astronomy enthusiasts who would value your help in making this special event successful. Would you be so kind as to distribute the attached PDF to your members and consider including it in your club newsletters between now and October? Please feel free to let me know about anything that would entice your members’ attendance and we will do our best to accommodate you.

We would also like to invite your club’s participation in a public outreach event. For example, if some of your members have solar observing gear, and are willing to share it with the public, we will turn the patio outside the convention center entrance into a solar observatory during this event.  In return,  we will express our gratitude by publicly thanking them for volunteering.  Plus, any solar volunteers will have free admission to the Showcase.

Details are here for your convenience, also included on the attached PDF:

·         Advanced Imaging Conference (AIC) Technology Showcase Open House
·         Saturday October 17, 2015 10 AM - 5 PM
·         San Jose Convention Center 150 W. San Carlos St., San Jose, CA 95113 (408) 295-9600
·         $10 per person at the door
·         $5 when you mention your club
·         Kids under 12 Free!

I'll look forward to hearing back from you, and thanks very much for your time and consideration.
Please let us know if you'd like to be removed from our mailing list.

Finally spotted this tonight with 8x50 binoculars. If weather holds I'll image it for my up coming birthday weekend.

RBA, looks like a good start. Just waiting to read the rest to see if you spill the beans on how you get those great shots.

Observing Reports / Lake Mcswain RV campsite
« on: September 27, 2014, 03:48:38 PM »
I just did a three night RV stay. Brought along my 104ED refractor and EQ6 mount. Used a Star Shoot Pro V2.0 color camera.
Since the camp site in a bit of a bowl area the extreme horizon is about 15 degrees up and there are scattered trees about. I did not see a light dome anywhere. The milky way was easily seen. I target IC 1805 and had 10 minute subs. I actually could do 15 minutes but elected to go to 10 minutes just to be sure. 6 Hours of data and all frames made the cut. There was a light breeze at night and very few street lights to deal with. This site is right up near the lake and it's pretty dark. If you have an RV the site has power, water and sewerage right at your site. I will be returning to this site soon since it's just over an hours drive est from Los Banos.
