TAC Imaging / California Nebula NGC1499 in Perseus

Here's a recent HaLRGB image of the California Nebula (5.9hrs).
Enjoying imaging at f/4.5 with a larger FOV (2.6 x 2.1 deg) to get these larger targets than I used to.

Here's a recent image of a large dark nebula in Cygnus just below the Pelican that should be easily visible.  It's 2 degrees long and I've only found 2 other images of it. But I think its pretty although rarely imaged.  Image and details at:

This is an 2.6 x 2.1 degree image of Lynds Dark Nebula 914 (LDN 914) in Cygnus just below the Pelican. It is a 6.7hr LRGB using my new FLI ML16200 camera with, for the first time, the Riccardi 0.75x focal reducer/field flattener to get this large FOV. I could find only two other instances of it being imaged on the web: one by the ESA Hershel observatory in the far infrared where this “crack in the sky” was glowing and the other a luminosity image by Werner Mehl where it was completely opaque. This is a 6.7 hour LRGB version of this interesting object that apparently has been rarely imaged.

From the reference below, the LDN 914 dark nebula is a 2 degree ribbon of cold dust and gas that is about 50 light-years long and has about 800 times the mass of the Sun in total, plenty of raw material to make future stars. It glows in the far infrared emitted by very cold objects, such as clouds undergoing collapse. But in visible light, LDN 914 is black because, as we know, cold dust is extremely opaque, blocking the light from stars behind it.

TAC Imaging / FLI ML-8300 and Field Flattener for Sale ***sold

Having upgraded to the FLI ML16200, I have my ML8300 for sale, if any TACO's are interested with local preference. I believe these are widely recognized as the best 8300 chip cameras out there with 50+ degree cooling and excellent performance.
I'm asking $2800 for the camera.  If you have an ~f/6 refractor, I have a Williams Optic field flattener that flattens the full FOV very well for $240. That includes a Precise Parts adapter that spaces the field flattener perfectly for the ML8300 and the FLI filterwheel/camera combination (filterwheel is not for sale).  Everything together is $3000. asking price.

TAC Imaging / VdB 141 Ghost Nebula and region

Here are a narrow and wider framing with extended nebulosity of the VdB 141 region taken with my new FLI ML16200 camera and new Riccardi Model 1 1.0x field flattener.  They are the same 8.2 hr LRGB images from D.A.R.C.  Still working on some autofocus and/or other issues but hopefully getting there.

Ready with an improved field flattener and other tweaks for the coming cycle but I won't be making it to GSSP.

TAC Imaging / NGC2903 barred spiral

With only 2 nights of imaging in all of 2016 thus far due to poor conditions, I managed this 10.3 hr LRGB of NGC2903 from 1 night in February and a short moon night in March:
Jetstream turbulence gave very poor seeing (>~5 arcsec) and there were other problems (poor focus, short on color data), but it was dark and good to be out there.  I'm hopeful conditions will now begin to improve.

TAC Imaging / Aluminum on Aluminum Threads Freeze

Anyone have experience freeing up aluminum on aluminum threads (both anodized) that are now frozen?
I have a focal reducer / field flattener (Riccardi 0.75x) that has had a 92m x1 to 82m x1 adapter on it for 3 years which is now completely frozen to the 82m x1 threads of the Riccardi.  I now need to remove that adapter and mount it permanently on the 3.5" Feathertouch Focuser with 92m x1 threaded endcap in order to accommodate the old focal reducer as well as a new Riccardi 1.0x field flattener I have ordered to flatten my f/6 images over my new larger chip (ML16200).
Seeking advice.

Panorama of the Southern Winter Milky Way taken in the South Africa with one hand on the remote trigger or tripod while the other hand shined a flashlight on the bush to make sure that the lions and other critters didn't wonder into the picture (and the photographer).

Got to get back to regular AP, but unfortunately I won't be at CalStar this year due to my wife's birthday on the 12th.
