Observing Intents / Re: Observing at Pinnacles West

yeah, its incredibly hazy and overcast here in santa cruz today, from the new Bear Fire that busted out last night above Boulder Creek.

looks like my rain forecast has both been downgraded and delayed some.   there likely WILL be some rain, but not as much as originally expected and a day or so later too.

I appreciate your input. Intellicast and National Weather call for clear Wednesday night. But, now I'm concerned about all the smoke pouring in from our local mountains and Santa Rosa Area. The air quality has taken a significant "turn" for the worse this afternoon. I checked Soledad this morning and it was good ... now it's unhealthy with high particulate rating. I will check all in the morning and cancel my intentions if necessary.
Thanks!

Hi folks,
This amazing scope was donated to the club a while back and it is now time to find it a new home.
You can check out some recent pics here:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4LOOmc9jwMbdXAwdWdhdjA5OTg&usp=gmail

This scope was last sold in 2014.  Here is the ad in Astromart:
www.astromart.com/classifieds/details.asp?classified_id=857678

Some differences from the ad to what is available now
- Argo Navis DSC included (not the sky commander)
- no Paracorr
- no Telrad Finder
- no Desert Storm Cover
The scope does come with vehicle ramps though.

This scope will be on view at the upcoming SJAA Swap Meet (unless it is sold prior to that)
feel free to email me if you have any questions

Observing Intents / Re: Dinosaur Point rides yet once again, Saturday night the 21st

Come to think of it, Charlie Wicks was asking about the Peak for this New Moon, and here a newish guy Kai and friends went to Coe last weekend. So TAC and SCAC are in fact working on inhabiting the hilltops.

And you can reliably go the Peak on a dark night and meet someone observing who never heard of any of our groups.

Observing Intents / Dinosaur Point rides yet once again, Saturday night the 21st

Yep Dinosaur Point will be open Saturday night the 21st for stargazing and general frivolity. The forecast looks just fine.

People have all manner of good choices for that night. The highly genial Santa Cruz gang is heading to the west side of the Pinnacles Saturday night as well. At both sites, telescopes, cameras, all kinds of gear are welcome.

Nice to read your report, with rain forecast for Thursday I am wondering if it's somehow possible Lake Sonoma might be ok by Saturday, but if not Dinosaur Point is definitely on my list. Thanks for your help.
