"Lumpy Darkness" (Mark W.), who originally instigated TAC, has suggested we give an email list another try...

so...   https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/sf-bay-tac   will be our new home, back to email list format!

I send everyone currently subscribed to this forum invites to the group..

The coloc deal I've had for years and years which has enabled me to host this site for free is going away in a week or two.

I'm looking into alternatives, but I may be going dark.

Haven't been to the Pinnacles in too long. Midweek renegade hardcore observing. We are TAC.

Observing Intents / Observing Intent Lake Sonoma December 9

I am planning to observe at Lake Sonoma Lone Rock parking lot Saturday December 9. With early sunset at around 4:50 pm there will be about 5 hours of dark sky before moonrise at around midnight.

Currently there are lots of high clouds so I plan to confirm on Saturday morning.

Hi, I am planning to go this Saturday Dec 9 as well, so far weather prospects are good. I will contact some friends and post an observing intent later this week. Although last quarter moon comes up around midnight, with the early sunset there's still five hours of dark sky.

Thanks! The sky at Lone Rock often seems to wash out later (sometime after 11 or midnight). Nice report.
I'm thinking of observing there this Saturday night depending on weather.

Dragon's head and Bean Nebula stand out in my mind too with Bean Nebula really a wonder even in the 12" I had used.  Of course Tarantula is the king in the LMC but there are just a whole lot of other very interesting and large objects in that beast of a dwarf (Can a dwarf be a beast???  Yes I think so in this case).

Check out a picture of just the nebula I took on remote scope and note the area is solid light nebula around all the objects.

Wonderful report Steve.  Yes a 30" in the LMC would be one definition of true astro bliss.    Nice.
