Greetings,

This is a reminder that CalStar is only 6 weeks away. There are still spaces left. Last year we sold out, so if you haven't registered and are planning to go, don't wait until the last minute.

Visit http://calstar.observers.org to register.

Clear Skies,

The official closing date for LSA is still one week before our event, so we need to use Whisper Canyon. That date may change, but we need to get a firm commitment from the park that we can actually hold the event before we can plan on going back, and at this point they're unwilling to commit to anything.

Anyone that would like to help with a spring CalStar or the Fall CalStar, please send me an email. It's more likely to happen if I get some help.

Stay tuned. We're exploring the idea of a spring star party and adding a night to CalStar.

Annual Star Parties / WHISPER CANYON UPDATE
« on: August 24, 2016, 08:57:15 AM »
Hi everyone,

I just got word from Jennifer at Whisper Canyon. The camp survived without damage although there is a lot of cleanup to do. A neighbor was able to take some pictures and send them to Larry and he posted them on the Whisper Canyon blog:

Whisper Canyon is definitely behind the fire line. I still have not gotten word from the camp manager on what the latest status is, but I received an email from WC  on Sunday afternoon that everyone was told to evacuate. I'm sure WC management doesn't know any more than we do at this point. We will have to wait and see.

Calstar goes on despite the conditions, but it's still 8 weeks away...
