Hi there, its been a while, just getting back into astro
« on: October 01, 2017, 12:40:22 PM »
Hi there everyone, I was just wondering if the community is as vibrant now as it was back during the dot com boom and is anyone still around?  What are the current observing sites available etc...  I am just getting back into astronomy but its gonna be several weeks if not a month or so before I can get out.

Anyway clear skies and look forward to hearing from anyone

Eric

Hey Eric, or Rick. Yeah there's plenty of observing going on. CalStar just happened for the 18th time last week. Look at the Observing Sites page here for all the possibilities. And do note we're opening another fall-winter season at Dinosaur Point this next New Moon. Yes yes weather permitting.

Hey there, Im sorry I missed the Calstar star party, the last one I went to was in 2001 right after 9/11 anyway I am very glad that people are still into this hobby around here.  As to my name, believe it or not I had trouble with people over the phone getting my given name correctly, so I go by my nick name from when I was a kid, it just easier for people for whatever reason. It doesn't make sense to me, but for some reason its easier.  Anyway I go by Rick now but answer to Eric if thats easier for people.
