The Sun this afternoon 8/27
« on: August 27, 2014, 01:48:46 PM »
Spent an enjoyable hour observing the Sun this afternoon.  Lots of detail on the surface, the filaments looked like someone with a bunch of badly healed scars.  In my scope 3 spots formed a right triangle in the center with the hypotenuse to the right...all of that to say where the prominences that I saw were located.  There was a nice little grouping of them between 3 and 4 o'clock, based on my orientation.  I think that would make it the east limb, but I'm not sure.

I set up at work with my AT-80/Lunt LS50Ha piggybacked on my C8 out in the parking lot.  It's fun because I get to share views with a bunch of my coworkers as they head to and from lunch.
