Wanted: 10" sonotube, 6' long
« on: July 27, 2015, 01:31:56 PM »
I'm in need of 10" diameter 6' long sonotube, but the hardware shops only sell it in 4' lengths and I special order is 12' only.  Rather than ending up with excess I wonder if anyone has some leftover?

The club usually has a few sonotubes that are donated (as full scopes) from time to time.
I know that we have at least two tubes.  Not sure of their size.  Will check next time I am in the hall and will report back.

Thanks for offering to check, Dave.  I contacted Chabot ATM, they didn't have any but suggested some sources.  I ended up ordering the 12' sonotube from Dale Hardware.  I have all the parts for the scope (8" f7.25) and am in a bit of a rush to finish it for the Stars Over Yosemite party the end of August.  I realized I couldn't pack both my 20" and my family to Glacier Point, so I had to choose...the family of course...so needed a smaller scope.  I might not be able to paint it in time, so it will be an interesting conversation piece.

Heck with the extra 6' of tube I can build another scope...  might as well!
